Q: When should I have my senior portraits taken?
A: Senior portraits are usually taken the summer before your senior year. I begin scheduling in May. If you want to avoid the hot humid Florida summers as I do my sessions outdoors, I continue to offer senior sessions through out your senior year.
Q: How do I get an appointment?
A: Call me at 941-404-8429 or CONTACT ME to schedule your consultation. Before you call, please look over my session pricing and decide what kind of session you would like.
Q: Do I have to pay something when the pictures are taken
A: Yes. The creative fee is due at the time of booking to secure your date and time.
Q: How much do you charge?
A: This is explained on the investment link under details at the top of the website.
Q: Should I bring my parents along with me when my pictures are taken?
A: Yes! I have found that bringing a parent (or both parents) along will help you feel more at ease, and will help us to take better photos. After all your parents have known you all your life, so we really value their input.
Q: How do I look at the photos from my senior portrait session and decide what I want to order?
A: We will meet in your home, or at a local coffee shop for your reveal & ordering appointment. You will view your portraits and decide what collection you would like to purchase at this appointment.
Q: Are all of your senior pictures the same?
A: No! We can have your session portrait session at a location that is of interest to you or I can recommend a location. The basic session (up to one hour) includes 2 outfit changes. If you purchase the add on (additional 45 minutes) you can change an additional 1-2 times, time permitting. You can bring your best friend, your pet, your saxophone, etc. Your senior session can be customized to fit you. Therefore, no session is the same, you make it unique.
Q: What should I wear for my senior portraits?
A: Wear what you feel comfortable in. Layers make a photo dynamic.
Gals: Dress with heals or flats, add in a scarf or wide brim hat, chunky jewelry or a cropped denium jacket. Accessories make the outfit. We can add or remove items to change up the photo. The same can be done with a pair of jeans and a tee shirt.
Guys: A pair of slacks or dress shorts and a button down short sleeve shirt. For a casual look a pair of carpenter shorts, tee shirt layered with a plaid button down shirt. Don't forget that I take full body shots so make sure your shoes go with your outfit.
Avoid strong patterns, bright colors and logos/text.
Prior to your session we will meet for an in-person consult. We will plan your session together and we can even go through you closet together and put together some dynamic outfits. If you prefer we can also do the consult over the phone. In that case you can check out my Pinterest Board for additional inspiration.
Q: What if it rains on the day that I am scheduled for pictures?
A: We will reschedule your session.
Q: What can I do to help make sure my pictures look good?
A: The most important thing to ensure good senior portraits is to spend time preparing. Choose outfits that you like and that look good on you. Get input from your parents and your friends.
GIRLS: even if you are not used to wearing makeup, wear it for pictures. Keep it natural though. Mascara, lip gloss & foundation are a great basic look. If you have any questions or concerns about makeup or your complexion, see a dermatologist or visit the cosmetics counter at the local department store.
GUYS: shave before your appointment. Don’t panic if you break out before your scheduled time. You can apply some makeup to your skin or I can retouch all of your finished pictures, so it may be best to leave your skin alone.
GUYS & GIRLS: Make sure you are comfortable with your hair – if you get a new hairstyle on picture day and you don’t like it, you won’t like your pictures. You should get your hair cut 1 – 2 weeks prior to your appointment.
Get plenty of rest the night before your appointment. Bring your clothes in on hangers, and make sure they are neat and not wrinkled up. Finally, come with a good attitude. Don’t be a grump on picture day!
Q: I got this huge zit on picture day! What should I do?
A: I can retouch most blemishes out of your pictures. For more information on retouching, contact me.
Q: I wear glasses. Is this a problem for pictures?
A: Probably not. If you have had school pictures taken in the past with glasses and there has always been reflection in the lenses, then you might get reflections in our pictures too. If possible, remove the lenses from your frames. This is the best solution. Or you can take your glasses off for your pictures. Please understand that I can only do so much with posing and lighting – you may still have reflections if you leave your lenses in, but this is rarely the case.
Q: How long will it take to see my pictures?
A: Please allow up to 2 weeks following your portrait session for your reveal and ordering appointment. Once you place your print and product order please allow up to 3 weeks for your order to arrive.
